FERMÆNTRA – oh yeah try saying or spelling that five times fast! Typically, I do not post about a brewery that is 6 months or less new – I feel it takes a few months for a new brewery to get on their feet, get a feel for their brewing system, their vibe etc. to get it right. But, there are times when I have to let that go and so I did with FERMÆNTRA.
If you follow my blog, and perhaps you do not, you know I love hoppy beers. I often refer to myself as a “hop head.” That may be cliche in the beer world – but you know what I love hops! Anyway, FERMÆNTRA has some awesomely hoppy and malty beers that I was quite impressed with – even in their new beginning.
I tried a few of their beers: Brabble – robust porter at 6.1% ABV and 34 IBUs. Backlit a dry hopped black IPA at 5.3% ABV and 100+ IBUS. Also, the Meristem a Russian imperial stout at 10% ABV with 65 IBUs, and the Aphion a kick-butt dry hopped double IPA at 7.5% ABV and 100+ IBUs.
Give ’em a shot if you’re in the area. I’ll be back! www.fermaentra.com
