Oak Creek Brewery

Oak Creek has to be one of my favorite breweries. Perhaps I’m a little partial to Arizona breweries, because it’s truly where my beer snobbery developed. The Village Nut Brown Ale has a wonderful nutty-malt flavor, and it’s one of my favorites.

I’m just going to skip past the light beers: Micro Light, Forty-Niner Gold Lager and Horseshoe Hefeweizen. Despite them being award winning and whatnot, I’m still more of a fan of the pale’s, IPA’s and darks.
The GABF rocks, and so does the Doc’s Pale Ale, as it won the 2005 Silver Medal. And in 2001 the Oak Creek Amber Ale won the Silver medal winner NABA. But, I love, I love, I love the Village Nut Brown Ale. Its won a few awards with the North American Brewers’ Association. With chilly northern Arizona winters, the Nut Brown is a favorite of mine because of its nutty flavor with just a hint of spice. It’s even better belly-up to a bar in Sedona overlooking the red rocks.
The Pullman Porter is also a fantastic very dark and full-bodied ale. It has a great coffee-like flavor with just the right amount of hop bitterness.
Orange Blossom seasonal
I HAVE to mention Oak Creeks Orange Blossom. Clearly a summer beer, but what a fantastic summer beer! I can’t even begin to describe it, it beer, obviously, but creamy at the same time with an orange creamsicle mixed. Truly, you have to try this beer for yourself.

  1. I'm going to be in Sedona in November. Thanks for the tip on this brewpub. Know any good beer stores there that sell in single bottles? I'm looking for a place where and East Coast guy can get a bunch of West Coast and Mountain Zone beers that I can't get out here.
